Throw a Cookie Party

Host a Holiday Cookie Decorating Party

Last week, my mom and I spent an evening learning to decorate sugar cookies with our neighbor, Susan. We had so much fun that we decided we needed to host a cookie decorating party for the upcoming holiday season. It's a great way to spend time with friends and family, share warmth, and create lasting memories. Plus, everyone gets to bring home a sweet treat at the end. Whether you’re celebrating in style or looking for a cozy gathering, a cookie decorating party can be a memorable occasion that reflects the warmth of the season and the luxury of a well-curated home.

Elevate the Cookie Decorating Experience

The magic of a cookie decorating party is in the details, and luxury items can truly elevate this experience. Select high-quality cookies made from scratch or purchase gourmet options, ensuring each one is a canvas for artistic flair.

We decided to keep things simple using gingerbread cookies as our base, and offering only piped vanilla frosting and edible glitter for the decorations. Choosing a select amount of options for frosting and toppings cuts down on waste, creates a cohesive look, and (may) ensure that you're not finding edible pearls rolling around on your floor days later.

Interested in a more lavish display? Invest in fine baking tools like custom rolling pins with intricate designs, and offer premium decorating supplies such as edible gold leaf, rich frosting in vibrant hues, and an array of decadent sprinkles. If you're making your cookies from scratch, consider picking up this *fun smeg mixer or a pair of *new baking sheets (because we can't burn the cookies!).

To make it even more fun and festive, set up a stylish, buffet-style decorating station where guests can choose from an assortment of sprinkles, candies, and icings. We love making the decorating process feel like a luxury experience in itself by adding a fun centerpiecefestive platter, or a tasteful cookie jar.

Fun for Everyone

One reason we love a cookie decorating party is that it get's everyone involved. Adults can enjoy the nostalgia of crafting cookies, while kids get to explore their creative sides. We added a competitive twist with *THIS as a prize for the most creative cookie, which got everyone in the spirit (because who doesn't want a festive stand mixer??). Some kitchen tools and gadgets we're loving right now include: *Viking 10-piece mixing bowl set*Retro Smeg Espresso Machine*Peugeot Salt and Pepper Mills. Plus virtually anything from *Stonewall Kitchen

A Welcoming Atmosphere

We wouldn't be Colton Lane is we didn't talk about furnishings and decor! The foundation of any great holiday gathering is a welcoming atmosphere. When hosting a cookie decorating party, it’s essential to set the scene with tasteful, high-end décor. Splurge on a lasting piece of furniture that will set the scene for many holidays to come. Some of our favorite home furnishings right now are the Karlson Credenza, the Odeon Bar Cart, and Rhone Linen Sofa.

A Sweet Takeaway for Guests

Send your guests home with a gift bag containing their decorated creations. Not only will they leave with sweet memories, but your guests will also appreciate the thoughtful gesture. We ended up prepping to-go bags with ribbon and tags for each guest to take home.

Hosting a cookie decorating party during the holidays offers a unique blend of fun, creativity, and luxury. With careful planning, your celebration will reflect the warmth of the season and the stylish comfort of your home. Whether you're creating sweet treats, sharing laughter, or enjoying the cozy ambiance, this holiday tradition will be one that you and your guests cherish for years to come.

Enjoy!
